Hello! If you are looking for a step by step plan for how to organize your laundry room, then this may not be the post for you. On the other hand, if you want some inspiration then you are in the right place! My goal is to inspire you to take initiative, and change part of your home that’s been bothering you. Keep reading to find out just how horrible my laundry room was and get inspired!
If you’re reading this, then I’m assuming you’re like me, and there’s part of your home that could use some organizational help. I don’t want you to be discouraged, so I will be honest about my own space. I’m sure you probably wouldn’t believe me if I just told you, so I included the picture below to show you!
So as you see I wasn’t joking, it’s pretty bad right? I mean look at the random stuff and mess there is! I have a bad habit of making unorganized rooms into a dumping ground. I always think if it doesn’t have any system in place, why not add items a few more items that I don’t know what to do with….but it just gets a lot worse!
My laundry room had been bothering me for a long time, but I had no idea what to do with it. I had no intention of changing anything right now, because without a plan I am usually hopeless, but then I found the free shelf. It was at the end of a neighbours driveway with a free sign, and I felt like it was calling my name. I love free stuff, and when it was still there a couple hours later, I felt like it was meant to be mine! After looking at it for awhile, I knew I would be hard pressed to make it fit with my style, but I could always use it for storage. It fit perfectly under the laundry room counter, so I figured that was a sign I should use it there. I was pretty excited, finally I had something to give me the motivation I had been needing to tackle the laundry room!
As you see the shelf made a world of difference for my laundry room. A space that was difficult to use, became a whole new storage area! Since it’s a small room I made sure to use all of the space I could. Right behind me taking this picture is the stacked washer and dryer, with a built-in vacuum beside. Basically there’s barely room to turn around without hitting the door!
I’m sure you are thinking that there are a lot of items you don’t see in there now. Well you are definitely right I removed a lot of junk that didn’t belong! It makes a huge difference having less in there, but it wasn’t until this shelf that I saw a reason to bother moving it all. I know that’s so sad isn’t it!
So you see, I may not have explained exactly how to organize, but I know for me a lot of the problem was finding a reason to do it. I hope I gave you some inspiration to tackle a project, and know that with a bit of creativity you don’t have to spend a ton of money. Thanks so much for reading!
